La Spezia Port Authority and INAIL partners of Contship Italia for Portolab
Project’s presentation and Navebus’ inauguration
La Spezia Port Authority will be the first in Italy to be partner of Contship Italia’s project Portolab, together with INAIL as well.
“This project will move even closer the town and the port. Even though the port has a very important role for the town’s economy, it’s usually located in an off limit area for the people: we want to make the port closer and understandable for town dwellers. Youngest kids will now have the privilege to go into the port and to better understand this piece of town”, said Lorenzo Forcieri, Port Authority’s president, at the inauguration of the new Navebus, a special school bus working as moving classroom with many port pictures inside.
This project was born in La Spezia five years ago and already involved over 20.000 students with stops in many “Contship towns” (Gioia Tauro, Leghorn, Ravenna and Cagliari). This year, 657 kids of the elementary schools of La Spezia will be involved. It is a real opencast laboratory, a true adventure, where students will be able to see the port areas, to gain experience of operation schedules and to realize the importance of work safety.
Mr Marco Simonetti, La Spezia Container Terminal managing director, was happy to announce that thanks to this project, this year more than 3.500 students of 70 Italian schools will visit Contship terminals and will be leading actor of the port life for one day.
