La Spezia Port Authority: the opening bridge of Pagliari dock has been inaugurated

The opening bridge was inaugurated at the presence of Lorenzo Forcieri, Port Authority’s President, Massimo Federici, town’s major, admiral Franco Paoli, Chief of the Alto Tirreno Naval Department, Giuseppe Forlani, La Spezia’s prefect, and mons. Mendinelli, the bishop’s substitute. The Navy brass band was present at the event as well.

The opening bridge is a very complex engineering work: 21 metres long, 12 metres wide, with two 3,75 metres roadways, two pedestrian gangways and cycle paths. The opening time is about two minutes and it works thanks to an hydraulic system.

The works were realised thanks to an investment of  9 million euros, partly financed by EU and partly by the Port Authority.

“This work is the first step of a bigger upgrading project for this area”, said Mr Forcieri, “which also foresees the realisation of the Port master Plan”.

The Pagliari area hosts a 6.500 sqm dock and quays for 330 metres; depth is up to 4,5 metres. A travel lift and a slipway are also at disposal.
