Baglietto group is made up of two shipyards; the traditional one is located in Varazze, while the one in La Spezia was purchased in 1999 in order to better meet the market’s demand as regards fast ferries, navy vessels and mega yachts. Baglietto shipyards are specialized in aluminium and steel constructions: our products consist of luxury motor yachts, military boats, coast-guard patrol boats, fast ferries, work boats, commercial vessels, tugs, passenger crafts. Both shipyards have their own design department and systems allowing to haul, launch and build vessels from 18m up to 150m in length and 650 tons in weight.
The facilities employ permanently over 50 persons, while the specialized sub-contractors involved in shipbuilding are over 400. The shipyards of Varazze and La Spezia allow a significant exchange of experiences as regards to the present market requests: Varazze’s experience in the construction of fast hulls and light alloy vessels joins the La Spezia’s in the construction of large vessels and marine equipment, hence offering a technical level and a productive capacity hard to be found in other Mediterranean shipyards but comparable to the most important North European yards.
Baglietto’s production is therefore divided as follows: Varazze’s yard concentrates on fast motor yachts up to 40m, while the La Spezia’s on fast ferries, navy vessels and luxurious mega yachts over 40m.
The yard in La Spezia (ex Ferrari Shipyard) has a long tradition in shipbuilding, refittings and equipments since 1930. Placed in the middle of the La Spezia Gulf, it covers a surface of 25,000 sqm, with a slip for the construction of boats up to 150m and a dock of 80m in length and 50m in width. The shipyard has built over 200 constructions, among which tugs, supply vessels, gaseous and chemical substances carriers, ferries and vessels generally for private clients and European military bodies. In the past it also realized hulls in steel and light alloy for the pleasure yachts and equipped important mega yachts. Furthermore, the presence in La Spezia of the Naval Military Arsenal represents an extremely important reserve of experiences, technologies, processings and qualified technicians and workmen.
The shipyard has quality certificates and military registrations allowing to participate with no limits to the international bids as well as to meet the technical specifications of private owners asking for particular performances boats.
The purchase of the shipyard in La Spezia has notably creased the production capacity of the Company not only in terms of number of units built but also in terms of their dimensions.
